When starting a new task or job, it is important the gloves each employee wears matches the task at hand. As with any type of PPE, gloves must be a last resort for protection. It must first be determined if the hazard can be eliminated through engineering controls or alternative methods. For example, if the employee will be using harsh chemicals, it’s better to determine if the chemical is necessary or could be replaced by a different, less harsh chemical.
